The Rapid Writer is a Chrome extension developed by Robert Walker, a self-published author and creator of The Rapid Writer writing framework. The extension is a standalone tool and does not connect to any proprietary servers operated by The Rapid Writer or its developer.

The extension accesses the following data solely to provide its core features:
Only one type of data ever leaves your machine, and only when you explicitly request it:
AI suggestion requests. When you click "AI Suggestion" on a flagged word or phrase, the selected text and your framework context are sent directly to Anthropic's API at api.anthropic.com using your own API key. This transmission is between your browser and Anthropic directly. The Rapid Writer does not receive, store, or process this data.
Anthropic's handling of data sent to their API is governed by Anthropic's Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review it.
The word sweep itself transmits nothing. When you run a sweep, all flagging and analysis is performed by JavaScript running locally in your browser. No manuscript text is sent anywhere.
The Rapid Writer does not collect, transmit, or store any of the following:
We operate no servers. We have no database of user accounts. There is no backend infrastructure to which the extension connects other than Anthropic's API at your explicit request.
The extension uses Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API to save your settings, framework document, API key, and preferences. This data is stored on your local device only, managed by Chrome, and is deleted when you uninstall the extension. It is never synced to external servers by the extension.
The extension requests permission to read content from Google Docs pages (docs.google.com) solely to enable the word sweep and text selection features. This permission is used only when the extension's sidebar is open and you initiate a sweep. The extension does not monitor, record, or transmit your Google Docs activity.
The extension integrates with one optional third-party service:
No other third-party services, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or tracking tools are integrated into the extension.
The Rapid Writer is designed for adult self-published authors and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
If this policy is updated — for example, if a future version of the extension adds new features that affect data handling — we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We will not reduce your privacy protections without providing clear notice through the extension itself.
